The Popular Movement Wins Three Seats in the Taza-Lehsseim Tawnat-Jerseef Region

The final results of the 25 November elections showed that the Popular Movement (Haraka Sha’biyah) won 24 seats (out of total 305) allocated for the local constituencies (excluding the 90 seats allocated for the national list or constituency); the Movement won three out of its total 24 seats in the Taza-Lehsseima Tawnat-Jerrseef Region.

Mohammed al-A’raj won the seat of Lehsseima whereas Khalil Sideeqi won the seat allocated for Taza with a total of 7173 votes; Jarseef seat went to Moulai Ahmad Sanoossi with 6116 votes.  In Tawnat – which has 6 seats allocated  in two sub-constituents with three seats each – the following parties won one seat each: Independence (Istiklal) Party snatched two seats while the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, Front of Democratic Forces, National Liberal Unity and Progress and Socialism.  The National Tally Commission released the results for the 90 seats allocated against the national list (one unified constituency nationwide) which is divided as follows: two thirds of seats (60) are allocated for women whereas the remaining one third (30) of seats was allocated for young male candidates under forty years of age.  According to Taza City Website, the popular Movement Party won 8 seats; 5 of these seats were won by the following women candidates: Fatnah Alkheil, list leader, Maryam Walhan, Lubna Emheir and Fatima Daaif.  The three other seats were won by the following young male candidates Aziz Aldarmoomi, list leader, Mouloud Ajef and Adel Qieshoohi.
