Women scoop two media awards in Oman

Muscat: Women scooped two honours at the annual Oman Media Awards held on Monday night at the Muscat Inter-Continental Hotel.
Mrudu Naik, Chief Reporter with local English daily Times of Oman, was adjudged the best reporter in English language journalism in Oman. Oman has three English dailies and two weekly newspapers, which are distributed free-of-charge in the market.
Maryam Khalfan Al Harthy, who has been working with Oman Daily Observer for over two decades, won the best Omani reporter award, which was instituted for the first time this year.
Mohammad Ali Al Balushi of Shabiba newspaper was given best correspondent award while Hamood Ali Al Toki from the Al Waha magazine was named the best Arabic language reporter.
Times of Oman, a popular daily among expatriates in Oman, won the best English daily award and ‘Oman' was named the best Arabic daily.
Sultan Bin Hamdoon Al Harthy, President of Muscat Municipality, was the guest of honour and praised Omani talent in the field of journalism.
National Bank of Oman, Ahli Bank, Oman LNG, Nawras, Oman Air and the Wave Muscat were sponsors of the event.
The annual Oman Media Awards was established in 2008 by Creative Press & Publishing.
